 Fred Phelps Feb 21st 2006
So have you heard about this idiot Rev. Fred Phelps and his "Westboro Baptist Church" protests of the War in Iraq? Well technically he's not protesting the war, what he is saying in essence is that God is punishing America for harboring homosexuals. Apparently these whackos believe that IED's (improvised explosive devices) are God's new method of choice in raining his holy justice on infidel's and the profane...

In Shirley Phelps-Roper - a daughter of Fred Phelps - own words "The scriptures are crystal clear that when God sets out to punish a nation, it is with the sword. An IED is just a broken-up sword."

And as if having this stance wasn't bad enough, this group has taken to spreading their message at the funerals of fallen US soldiers, saying things like "God hates your son" and "He's burning in hell" to the grieving families!

These people (and I use the term loosely here) are the lowest of the low, the dredges of humanity the likes of which spawned such personalities as Hitler and Jeffery Dhamer.

Obviously this "church" is really more of a cult wrapping themselves in the label of Baptists, to suit their own purposes, and are unaffiliated with the denomination as a whole.

I'm all for free speech, but this type of expression trounces on the rights of the families of the dead, and shouldn't be protected under the first ammendment. Several states are already considering legislation to restrict groups such as this from demonstrating within earshot of funerals.

If you want to help, write your congressperson or state representative and let them know they have our support in drafting laws binding the hands of these fools.
