 Thanks AT&T : ( August 4th 2006

So I’ve been using DSL for my internet connection for about a year now, and I haven’t had a whole lot to complain about. Decent connection speeds (usually pulling down about 1.5 mbps) at a fair price ($14.99 / month). Sure its not super fast (unless of course you ask my ISP, who claims “blazing speed” I believe) but its good enough to get my fansubs, and beats some skulls in at World of Warcraft, But I received a letter in the mail the other day from SBC er.. I mean AT&T (or whatever the hell they’re calling themselves this month) Saying that they were going to jack up my rate to $34.99 / month if I didn’t upgrade from their “express” package to their “pro” service (along with a price hike to $17.99, and a 1 year commitment)

I don’t know, maybe I’m just being petty here, but I’m steamed over this. Sure I could switch back to cable, as a way of protesting the forced upgrade, but then I’d be paying an even more ludicrous fee every month. (Something in the neighborhood of $50 / month, for about the same level of service) A word of advise here big telecom, if you want to stay on your customer’s good side, forced upgrades isn’t the way to do it. Geesh…
