 Quark CEO June 12th 2005
Kamar Aulakh (CEO of Quark Inc.) resigned from his position today with no warning, and no explanation for the motivations behind such a move. According to News.com, Aulakh is no longer with the company. Quark spokesman Glen Turpin also said, 'We hope to find a new CEO as soon as possible. It's very important we bring in some professional outside leadership to the company.

Aulakh, a Quark veteran, became CEO in February 2004, taking over from owner and CEO Farhad "Fred" Ebrahimi. Quark's reputation was suffering.

This move comes only a week after what was considered a successful Quark customer summit in Keystone.

Linda Chase, a Quark senior vice president, was named interim president while Quark looks beyond its own ranks for a new CEO.

I find this move perplexing in that I feel Quark as a company has really turned around over the past couple of years. The release of Xpress 6.5 added some really great features (including beating Adobe to adding layers support for .PSD into their layout program)

This leads me to believe that Aulakh was most likely terminated from his position. CEO's don't usually quit without a large amount of notice. What escapes me is why he was terminated.
